Spring 2010 Prairie Fields Island updates
Hello to everyone, maybe just maybe Spring is around the corner.
With that in mind our Board has approved two proposals for
the beautification of our Islands.
Pergola at Lamar & Colonial
First of all, as many of you know, the Pergola on the island
at Lamar and Colonial Drive has needed some extensive work for
sometime now. Unfortunately, the previous attempt to correct
the issues failed. We have entered into contract with
Apex Painting to perform work to bring the island back up to
a presentable shape, one in which our residents can be proud of.
If anyone would like to see a copy of what is being done, please contact
me and I will be happy to provide you with a copy.
Island Turf Maintenance
Secondly, we have also entered into contract with GS Grooming
to professionally maintain the turf areas in some of our islands.
This will include overseeding, fertilizing, etc. The City of
Prairie Village will still be doing the mowing. We felt that some
of these islands have really needed attention beyond our
group volunteer help. Again, if anyone has any questions about
the work to be performed, please contact me.
Plants and Mulch for Islands
Finally we will be again using Westlake Hardware in Corinth
Square to supply us with plants and mulch for our yearly
maintenance program. More on this later.
Bring on the sunshine, thanks, Jack Lewis

Island Volunteers Needed
It's time to think about getting outside to see what needs to be done not only in our own yards but in and around the 45+ islands and signs throughout the neighborhood.
As you may or may not know, we as residents of Prairie Fields have the privilege and responsibility to maintain these common ground areas. Over the past years countless residents have volunteered to keep these areas beautiful. As spring starts to unfold we on the Board of Directors intend to keep this tradition moving forward. We are once again looking for additional volunteers.
Within the next few weeks you may start to see some small Adopt Me signs in islands that are in need of a volunteer or two.
If you are interested in helping, you may email or call me.
